Our breakfasts were a bit different to the ordinary 'vegan full English', so that was nice. The atmosphere and feel of the place is lovely and the owner(?) was really nice and so friendly.

The only criticism is that the Remedy big breakfast arrived already cold. The flavours were great, the presentation awesome, but please, heat up the plates before serving. They were stone cold.
We were hoping for a great coffee (having read the reviews). We visited York for 2 nights, 3 days and didn't manage a decent coffee during our entire stay, so our criticism here isn't reserved just for this cafe. Is the coffee in York just weak or does everyone just prefer tea? 🙄
Support Remedy and give them a visit. They're doing a lot of really great things.

The French toast was gorgeous- the rhubarb topping was amazing and the lemon cheesecake style topping was just delicious. Husband had pancakes. We were offered more water to top up our teas with. It’s a no waste place which is brilliant.

I went to remedy after following them on Instagram for a good period of time, and based on this it's safe to say my expectations were high.

Remedy is a very special place. From the food to the drinks to the hosting - I say hosting because Remedy isn't just a cafe where you turn up and someone takes your order.
The staff are all chatty, explaining the menu in depth, and are clearly passionate about what they're doing. This elevated remedy in my opinion to one of the best cafes I've ever visited.
The food was exquisite. It's so good we also returned the next day for breakfast so we could sample more of the menu.
Miso mushrooms, scrambled chickpeas, french toast, everything was impeccable and we can't wait to return.

Went here with my girlfriend for a quick brunch. Service was quick and smooth. The food arrived promptly and the open kitchen design is refreshing. I love the interior of it - we were there during a mushroom delivery and it was great to see so much fresh produce with so little waste.

Very welcoming owner/staff that read out the ingredients of the dishes on the menu board. We wanted them all and both settled on the spears on crispy kale and hummus with chilli oil, which was scrumptious. We also had the Juliene Bruno on sourdough toast, which was delicious. I finally made it here today (ok I don't get out much but when I do I like to avoid the chains) how lovely to be able to spend my money in place that shares some of my values(maybe quite a few).
Read moreService was bright and pleasant. I just had an americano with oat and a pastry. Both were great. Next time I'll try a savoury got my eye on mushrooms/chickpeas on toast or your burger.

Read moreNext time you pop in you might notice we have some mugs hanging on the wall, we do this so if people would like a takeaway coffee, instead of putting it in the plastic not so compostable cup we can put it in a mug and they can bring it back later. You can always have your coffee in one of these mugs, even to sit in and enjoy your afternoon with in.

We loved this café —both for its delicious fare and its environmentally conscious ethos. The lattes were terrific, served either in standard mugs or edible cups (which taste like an ice cream cone). And the lovely, friendly proprietors told us how deliberate they are with how they source the coffee—it’s carbon neutral, from a special coffee grower, shipped sustainably and roasted in a carbon neutral roaster powered by hydrogen.

The most sustainable, waste free place I've ever had lunch and the food was some of, if not the best food I've ever had in a cafe! We had the mushroom and cider/miso leeks sarny and I've have been dreaming of it ever since! Also, the coffee was amazing. The guy serving us (maybe the owner?) was incredibly friendly and went through every item on the menu in detail. Thank you for all the effort you are putting in to reduce your impact, your genuine dedication is really heartwarming.

If you’re a vegan visiting York then this place is a MUST ! The food is delish & devine & the service is so friendly and good . The staff are soo passionate about their food and cafe . I had the aubergine sarny & my husband had the beans on toast which was no ordinary beans on toast & we had the potatoe salad to share because we wanted to try everything ! We were stuffed and everything was delish & tasty . I took away one of their cakes to eat later . Our dog got some treats too. Everything is eco friendly as well as vegan . Can’t recommend this place highly enough . Wish them every success !
